Nāṣer al-Dīn Shāh's reign of nearly fifty years — the longest of any Qājār monarch — produced an extraordinarily fragmented coinage, with provincial mints operating under loose central oversight. Kermān was one of several cities authorized to strike in the Shāh's name, and local mint output varied considerably in quality and consistency. The wreath variety distinguishes this piece from other Kermān strikes of the type, a die distinction that reflects the ad hoc nature of provincial mint administration rather than any deliberate commemorative intent.
