| Obverse description | The field is occupied entirely by a multi-line Arabic calligraphic legend in bold Naskh script, arranged in three registers separated by a horizontal sword motif. The upper register bears the royal title and dynastic name of Fath Ali Shah Qajar, while the lower registers carry the honorific 'Sultan ibn Sultan' (King, Son of Kings). A fine beaded border encircles the design. The engraving exhibits the precise, deeply struck character typical of a Western mint pattern, attributed to engraver W. Bain at the Birmingham Mint. |
