| Reverse description | The reverse displays an elaborate heraldic coat of arms engraved in the Western European tradition, featuring a central shield bearing the Qajar lion-and-sun device — a couchant lion before a radiant sun. The shield is supported on the dexter side by a rampant European-style lion and on the sinister side by a wingéd dragon or wyvern. Above the shield is placed an imperial crown with prominent fleurons. Beneath the supporters, a flowing ribbon scroll bears the Arabic inscription in Naskh script. The engraver's mark 'B' appears in the exergue at the base, and the entire composition is framed by a beaded border, reflecting the distinctly Anglo-Persian artistic fusion characteristic of this Birmingham-struck pattern. |
