| Reverse description | Central field bears a two-line Persian Nasta'liq calligraphic legend reading 'ضرب دارالملک طبرستان' ('Struck at the seat of the kingdom, Tabaristan') in the upper portion, with the AH date '۱۲۴۶' (1246 AH / 1831 AD) prominently inscribed in the lower field. The legend is enclosed within a border of raised pellets forming a continuous inner ring, itself surrounded by an outer beaded rim. The composition is typical of Qajar provincial mint issues, with boldly rendered calligraphy and minor ornamental devices filling the available field space. The mint name Tabaristan identifies this piece as struck at the Sari or regional Mazandaran mint. |
