Reverse description The central field displays two large Chinese characters 壹錢 (One Qian) in bold raised relief, occupying the majority of the flan surface. A plain inner border frames the denomination inscription, surrounded by a continuous beaded border of uniform raised dots following the coin's circumference. The reverse composition mirrors the restrained, typographic aesthetic of the obverse, consistent with the functional bullion coinage style produced by provincial monetary bureaus during the late Qing dynasty.

Additional information

The Hunan Fu-Nan Monetary Bureau was one of several provincial minting authorities operating during the late Qing scramble to modernize China's chaotic currency system. Kann 951 is among the lesser-documented provincial silver issues of the period, and surviving examples in any condition are genuinely scarce — the bureau's output was limited and short-lived before central consolidation efforts curtailed independent provincial minting.
