Obverse description Applied counterstamp of the city of Bamberg, depicting the Bamberg lion passant to the left within a circular punch, impressed onto the obverse field of a Prague Groschen host coin. The counterstamp is struck over the original Bohemian design, partially obscuring the underlying legends and decorative elements of the base coin. The punch is relatively small and applied with moderate pressure, leaving the lion's body discernible despite the worn and corroded state of the coin's surface.
