Obverse description The Hudson's Bay Company coat-of-arms vignette is positioned at the upper left, flanked by the note number and denomination "One Pound Sterling" in ornate script across the top. The body of the note carries a letterpress promise-to-pay text in copperplate calligraphy, payable to the bearer on demand at York Factory on Rupert's Land, drawn on a Bill of Exchange at Hudson's Bay House, London. Manuscript date, serial number, and handwritten signatures of the Governor and Accountant appear in the lower portion.
