| Obverse description | Central field bears the Arabic inscription of denomination 'One Pound' in large calligraphic script, with the issuer legend 'United Arab Republic' arching above. The Hijri date 1387 appears at lower right and the Gregorian date 1968 at lower left, flanking the commemorative date '9 January' in the lower centre. An ornate arabesque decorative band occupies the lower portion of the field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border with a dashed outer border. |
