Obverse description The national coat of arms of the Republic of Cyprus occupies the central field, depicting a dove in flight carrying an olive branch above the date 1960, the year of independence, rendered within a shield. The arms are flanked by laurel branches extending symmetrically on either side. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the bilingual and trilingual legend surrounding it. The outer legend reads 'CYPRUS · ΚΥΠΡΟΣ · KIBRIS' in Latin, Greek, and Turkish scripts respectively, with the commemorative year 1988 also inscribed.
