Obverse description The national coat of arms of the Republic of Cyprus occupies the central field, depicting a dove in flight carrying an olive branch above the date 1960, the year of independence, set within a heraldic shield. Flanking the shield on both sides are laurel branches framing the design. The legend around the periphery reads CYPRUS in English, KYΠPOΣ in Greek, and KIBRIS in Turkish, with the year 2005 incorporated into the inscription.
