Additional information

Egypt's 1979 land reform pound commemorates the agrarian redistribution policies initiated under Nasser in 1952, when the Revolutionary Command Council imposed strict limits on private landholdings and began breaking up the large estates of the old pashalik class. The program transferred millions of feddans to smallholders over the following two decades, fundamentally restructuring rural Egypt's economic order. Fr#62 places this squarely within a short commemorative gold series issued under Sadat.
