Obverse description To the left, a sideways pastoral vignette illustrates farmers cultivating the land with the assistance of cattle and horses, rendered in an engraved style typical of early nineteenth-century private bank issues. Text panels occupying the right portion of the note carry the promise-to-pay inscription and denomination statement. Blanks for the date and authorized signatories are incorporated into the text, consistent with partially printed note practice of the period.
