Obverse description At left, an engraved portrait of King George VI in military uniform is set within an oval guilloche vignette. The central field carries the denomination ONE POUND in large letterpress, flanked by two ornate £1 cipher vignettes within scalloped guilloche frames, with the date and Chairman's signature running across the middle register. The printer's imprint of Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited London appears at the foot of the note.

Reverse description The Jamaican coat of arms occupies a circular engraved vignette at top centre, flanked symmetrically by two large £1 cipher cartouches enclosed within elaborate scalloped guilloche borders. Two rectangular panels in the lower left and right fields each bear the inscription ONE POUND in bold letterpress, the entire design rendered in green intaglio over a lightly tinted underprint.
