Obverse description Portrait of King George VI in military uniform within an oval guilloche vignette at left, set against an intricate green guilloche underprint with ornate corner medallions bearing the pound sterling symbol. The date "19th May, 1960" and the Chairman of the Commissioners of Currency signature appear in the centre field, with a large decorative £1 emblem to the right. The printer's imprint of Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited, London appears at the lower margin.

Reverse description The Jamaican coat of arms is engraved at top centre, flanked by two large guilloche £1 numerals on either side within ornate circular lathe-work frames. The overall design is executed in green on an unprinted background, with a large central blank oval and fine geometric guilloche patterning across the entire field.
