Reverse description Central design by David Lawrence depicting four national floral emblems of the United Kingdom — the Tudor rose (England), thistle (Scotland), shamrock (Ireland), and leek (Wales) — growing together from a single stem and surmounted by a royal crown, all rendered in high relief within the inner silver-toned disc. The engraver's initials 'DP' appear in the lower field of the inner disc. The outer gold-coloured ring bears the denomination legend ONE POUND in bold incuse letters along the lower arc, while the year dates appear repeatedly around the outer ring. The composition presents a striking two-tone contrast between the silver inner disc and gold-coloured outer ring, characteristic of the new 12-sided pound coin design.
