| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the fourth portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the lower left rim, continuing with BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY around the upper portion of the coin. The engraver's initials IRB appear truncated at the neck. A small floral spray device is present at the lower right of the effigy. |

| Additional information |
Guernsey's millennium coinage was issued under the authority of the States of Guernsey, a body that has retained the right to issue its own currency independently of the UK since the Bailiwick was never formally incorporated into the United Kingdom. The year 2000 prompted a wave of commemorative issues across British Crown Dependencies, and Guernsey's output was no exception — gold-plated silver pieces like this one were produced specifically for the collector market rather than circulation.
KM#87 is one of several denomination variants struck for the millennium series, each sharing the same plating specification over .925 silver.
