| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Diamond Diadem Crown, rendered in high relief against a mirrored proof field. The portrait is unrobed, depicting the Queen with characteristic poise and fine facial detail typical of a late-reign effigy. The circular legend surrounds the bust, with the date 2020 positioned in the lower field. The inscription is divided around the portrait in Latin, identifying the issuer as Alderney. |

| Additional information |
Alderney, a Crown dependency with no Westminster representation, issues commemorative coinage through a licensing arrangement with the Royal Mint's commercial arm — meaning these pieces are legal tender in name but produced primarily for the collector market. The Dunkirk evacuation of May–June 1940 is relevant to the island in a grimly specific way: within weeks of Operation Dynamo's conclusion, Alderney itself was evacuated and subsequently occupied by German forces, becoming the only British territory to host Nazi concentration camps.
