Reverse description Central design features the shield of Jersey — charged with three golden leopards passant guardant — superimposed upon two crossed rifles or muskets in saltire, symbolising the Battle of Jersey of 1781. Above the shield rests a Tudor crown in high relief. The commemorative dates '1781' and '1981' flank the shield on either side at mid-field. The upper arc legend reads 'ONE POUND' and the lower arc bears the inscription 'BICENTENARY OF THE BATTLE OF JERSEY', all in raised Latin capitals on a polished proof field.
