Obverse description Fifth definitive effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II facing right, modelled by Jody Clark, depicting the sovereign wearing the George IV State Diadem. The legend encircles the portrait within the field, with the designer's initials J.C. appearing truncated at the shoulder. The inscription records the date 2015 and the abbreviated royal titles in Latin.

Reverse description The Royal Shield of Arms, as designed by Matthew Dent, occupies the central field, quartered to display the three golden lions passant guardant of England (first and fourth quarters), the rampant lion of Scotland within a double tressure flory-counterflory (second quarter), and the golden harp of Ireland (third quarter). The shield is rendered in high relief with fine beaded borders delineating each quarter. The denomination legend ONE POUND is inscribed vertically to either side of the shield, dividing the field.
