Obverse description Blue print on red underprint. The British Royal Arms vignette is centred at top, surrounded by the circular legend INCORPORATED BY ROYAL CHARTER. The word ONE appears in oval guilloche panels at left and right, with the large denomination ONE POUND as a bold red underprint across the centre. Trilingual text in English, Sinhala, and Tamil runs throughout, with the issuing bank title and promise-to-pay clause in the central field.

Reverse description Plain blue print on white paper. Three guilloche medallions are arranged horizontally: a large oval at centre with a fine engine-turned lattice interior, flanked by two smaller circular medallions each bearing the numeral 1. The overall design is uncluttered, with the printer's imprint at the base.
