Reverse description The reverse depicts Eos, the Greek goddess of the dawn, rendered as a winged angelic figure standing in a horse-drawn chariot. Three powerfully modelled horses rear and surge forward in high relief, their harnesses and reins rendered with fine detail. A rising sun appears in the lower exergue, its rays radiating upward behind the horses in a dramatic composition. The inscription 'EOS' is positioned in the upper right field, with the 'EIC' (East India Company) mark in the lower right field. Designer's initials are visible on both sides of the composition.
