Obverse description Dark intaglio-printed note with the bank's title in bold lettering across the top border; the central vignette bears the bank's heraldic arms flanked by cartouches carrying the denomination numeral ONE, above a blue guilloche underprint panel containing the promise-to-pay text and the denomination TWENTY SHILLINGS. Branch names appear in vertical columns along both lateral margins, with oval cartouches at left and right reading BELFAST and DUBLIN respectively, while a large ornamental diagonal rendering of the bank name runs along the left side. The foot of the note carries ONE POUND within a decorative frame above the foundation legends ESTABLISHED 1827 and INCORPORATED 1865.
