Obverse description Printed in green intaglio, the face carries an oval portrait of King George V in right profile at right, balanced by a circular vignette of the Australian Royal Arms at left. The centre is dominated by a large ornate guilloche underprint with ONE POUND in bold letterpress and numeral "1" counters at each corner, all within fine lathe-work borders.

Reverse description The central intaglio vignette renders Captain James Cook's landing at Botany Bay in 1770, with period-costumed naval figures on the shoreline and a sailing vessel in the background. Ornamental pound sterling symbols (£1) flank the vignette on either side, with numeral "1" counters within decorative scrollwork at each corner, all framed by green guilloche borders. No printer's imprint appears.
