Obverse description Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in three-quarter view at right, printed in intaglio. At centre, an ornate guilloche vignette frames the George Cross, rendered in multicolour underprint with fine engine-turned latticework in red, green, and blue tones. The note number and prefix appear at upper right and lower left, with the Governor's facsimile signature below centre.

Reverse description A detailed intaglio vignette of the Marsa Industrial Estate occupies the central field, rendered in olive-green tones and showing a panoramic aerial perspective of the industrial complex with factory buildings in the foreground and the broader Maltese urban landscape receding into the background. The denomination symbol £1 appears at lower left within a fine guilloche border. The overall design is restrained and monochromatic, executed in the engraved style characteristic of Bradbury Wilkinson productions.
