| Additional information |
The South Orkney Islands have no permanent population and no indigenous government — the "issuer" here is a licensing arrangement, with coins produced for the collector market under a territorial designation recognized by no major numismatic authority as a sovereign entity. Fredriksen Island is one of the smallest and most remote points in the group, uninhabited and visited almost exclusively by researchers from Signy Island station. The macaroni penguin colonies there are among the densest in the archipelago.
