Obverse description Draped bust of Duke Adolphus Frederick III facing right, portrayed with a voluminous curled periwig in the baroque court style. The effigy shows armored drapery at the truncation with fine detail. The circumferential Latin legend reads D.G. ADOL.FRID. III. MECKLENB. DUX, interrupted by the bust. The coin is struck within a milled border of fine teeth.

Reverse description Elaborately quartered and sub-quartered ducal arms of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, displayed within an ornate baroque cartouche with scrolling foliate mantling to either side. The shield is surmounted by a large ducal crown. The date 1749 is divided at the upper left and right flanking the crown. The mintmaster's initials H C B appear in the exergue below the shield.
