Milk tokens on paper rather than aluminum or vulcanite are uncommon in Quebec dairy issues, and red-tinted paper stock was occasionally used by small regional dairies specifically to prevent counterfeiting by neighbors or competing routes — a low-tech but practical solution when a single pint represented real daily commerce.
