Obverse description The obverse displays the armorial shield of the East India Company at center, supported on either side by a passant lion resting on a ball, the whole forming the Company's heraldic supporters. Two crossed flags flank a lion statant atop the shield as crest. The legend ONE PIE is divided across the upper field, with the date 1809 appearing in the exergue below. The entire device is contained within a beaded border.
