Pakistan's smallest denomination at independence, the pie was retained from British Indian coinage as a fractional unit — one-twelfth of an anna, one-192nd of a rupee. By the time this series was struck, the denomination was already economically marginal, and Pakistan abolished the pie along with the entire anna-based system when it decimalized its currency in 1961.
