Obverse description Crowned heraldic shield bearing a rampant lion to sinister, set within a beaded inner circle. The shield represents the personal arms of Grand Master Jean de la Cassière. A partial circular legend surrounds the central device, interrupted by the irregular flan edge typical of hammered coinage of the period.
