Additional information

Cyprus's postwar coinage continued largely uninterrupted under George VI, but 1949 sits in a particularly charged moment: EOKA had not yet launched its armed campaign for enosis, but Greek Cypriot political pressure for union with Greece was already forcing London into uncomfortable administrative positions. The colonial currency carried on regardless. This issue was among the last struck before George VI's death in February 1952, after which the entire series required redesign.
