Reverse description The reverse is designed in deliberate imitation of the widely circulated Spanish colonial pillar dollar (8 reales). Two crowned heraldic pillars flank a crowned globe-shaped combined shield of Denmark and Norway at center. Beneath the pillars and central arms, a raised mound bears three banners or standards symbolizing the three Danish island territories: Iceland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. The date 1777 appears in the lower reverse field. The peripheral legend GLORIA EX AMORE PATRIÆ PLUS ULTRA encircles the design, with the territorial names ISLAN GRÖNLAN FERÖ integrated into the composition.
