Obverse description Central papal coat of arms of Clement XI displayed within an elaborate baroque cartouche, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter. The shield bears the Albani family arms featuring a six-pointed star over a mount of three hills, flanked by ornate acanthus scrollwork and palm fronds. A cherub head appears at the top of the cartouche beneath the tiara. The circular Latin legend reads CLEMENS XI P M AN XIII, separated by decorative stars, running along the inner border with a beaded inner circle and milled outer rim.
