| Obverse description | Central device depicts the prancing horse of Brunswick facing left, rendered in relief against a plain field, with a sprig of foliage beneath the horse's hooves. The heraldic horse is shown with raised forelegs and flowing tail, serving as the traditional dynastic emblem of the House of Welf. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device along the coin's periphery, reading the titles and domains of George IV. The design is typical of early nineteenth-century Brunswick minor coinage, with a bold, slightly crude rendering consistent with the Clausthal Mint's output. |
