Obverse description Oval shield bearing the three-fold arms of the Palatinate, Bavaria, and the imperial orb, surmounted by an electoral crown. The collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece encircles the shield, suspended from a pendant in the lower field. The design is rendered in a simple, bold relief characteristic of late 18th-century Bavarian coinage.
