Obverse description The leaping horse of Brunswick, depicted in profile facing left with all four legs raised, occupies the central field. The horse is rendered in a bold, stylized manner typical of early 18th-century German coinage. The surrounding legend, reading AUG.WILH.D.G.D.BR.&.L., identifies the issuing ruler, Duke August Wilhelm, by the grace of God, Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg.
