Obverse description Enthroned figure of the Virgin Mary (Maria Mater Domini) facing forward, nimbed and crowned, holding the Christ Child on her left arm, set within a radiate glory of sunbeams. A horizontal panel below the figure bears the divided city name GOS-LAR. Beneath the panel, the civic arms of Goslar — an eagle displayed — appear in the lower field. The circular Latin legend MARIA MAT DOMINI GOS LAR runs around the periphery.

Reverse description Plain field bearing a bold four-line inscription denoting the denomination and coin type: I / PFENNING / SCHEIDE / MVNTZ, with the date 1746 below, and the mint-master's initials H·C·R·F· in the lower field. Two small ornamental devices flank the numeral I at the top. The legend is set in large capital letters characteristic of early 18th-century German copper coinage.
