Additional information

Wolfgang of Palatinate-Zweibrücken was among the earliest German princes to formally introduce Lutheranism into his territories, doing so in 1557 — a move that reshaped administrative and fiscal structures across the duchy. Small silver pfennigs of this reign circulated in an economy still adjusting to the disruptions of Reformation-era church property seizures, which altered the flow of local rents and tithes that such denominations were routinely used to settle.
