Obverse description A crowned helmet crest displayed in the center of the field, featuring a prominent double-necked swan or bird motif with outstretched wings rising from a coronet, flanked by small cross ornaments. The monogram WLH (for Wilhelm Landgraf Hessen) is inscribed in large capital letters in the upper field above the helmet crest. The coin is struck within a beaded border, characteristic of the small hammered silver coinage of the period.
