Obverse description Central field features an ornate, crowned four-fold quartered shield bearing the arms of Paderborn and Pyrmont, with an inescutcheon of the Asseburg family at center. The shield is superimposed upon a crossed sword and episcopal crozier in saltire, symbols of the bishop's temporal and spiritual authority. Mintmaster's initials appear divided to either side of the central composition. The circular legend runs along the periphery of the field in Latin characters.
