Obverse description Central field depicts a lion passant in relief, rendered in the crude, expressive style characteristic of medieval hammered coinage. The figure occupies the majority of the flan, with visible detailing in the mane and forelimbs. The coin is struck on an irregular planchet with a beaded border partially visible around the circumference. The overall relief is flat, consistent with hand-struck production of the late 14th century.
