Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of Bishop Wilbrand of Oldenburg, vested in episcopal robes and wearing a mitre, holding a crozier in his left hand and raising his right hand in benediction. Two small heraldic animals, likely lions, are depicted flanking the bishop's feet in the lower field. A small architectural element, possibly a tower or building facade, appears to the bishop's right. The design is rendered in the bold, schematic style characteristic of Westphalian episcopal bracteate-influenced pfennigs of the early thirteenth century. The legend encircles the central design within a beaded border.
