| Obverse description | Bracteate type featuring a central shield bearing the arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz, depicted as a six-petalled rosette or mullet device within a curved shield outline, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. At the top of the beaded circle, the letter 'M' (for Mainz) appears in the field, accompanied by a small annulet or ring to the right. An outer ring of pellets encircles the entire design, forming a decorative border characteristic of late medieval German Pfennig coinage. |
