Obverse description Facing bust of Archbishop Theoderich II of Wied rendered in a stylized Romanesque manner, depicted in ecclesiastical vestments within a beaded border. The figure is shown frontally with simplified facial features characteristic of early 13th-century hammered coinage. A partial legend reading TEODCVS (an abbreviated form of Theodoricus) surrounds the bust. The design is executed in shallow relief typical of the bracteate-influenced Rhenish pfennig tradition.
