Obverse description Within a roughly rectangular incuse frame, the two Gothic uncial letters S and L (monogram of the co-rulers Stephan and Ludwig) are displayed side by side in the field, rendered in a bold, deeply struck Gothic hand characteristic of late-medieval Bavarian bracteate-style pfennigs. The flan is irregular and characteristic of the Vierschlag hammered technique, with the die impression occupying the central field without a surrounding legend.
