Reverse description The reverse bears the denomination indicated by the numeral 1 at center, separated by a horizontal rule from the word PFENNIG inscribed in raised Latin capitals along the lower portion of the field. The legend NOTGELD arches above in bold raised letters across the upper field. The entire design is framed by a continuous raised bead border at the rim, with no additional pictorial devices, reflecting the plain emergency issue style typical of German municipal Notgeld coinage of 1920.
