| Obverse description | Within a beaded or twisted inner circle, the arms of Salzburg — a pale (vertical bar) — surmounted by a bishop's mitre with pendant lappets (infulae), all set against a plain field. The design is rendered in the crude, slightly irregular style characteristic of hammered billon pfennigs of the mid-fifteenth century. |

| Reverse description | Within a twisted or beaded inner circle, a large Roman numeral I (denoting the denomination of one pfennig) flanked on each side by a small pellet or annulet, set against a plain field. The design is simple and boldly struck, consistent with the utilitarian character of small hammered billon coinage of the Salzburg bishopric. |
