Obverse description Central field features an elaborate interlaced royal cypher NFP (for Nicolaus Friedrich Peter) rendered in ornate script, surmounted by a princely crown with arched bands and ermine lining. The monogram is depicted in high relief against a plain field, enclosed by a fine beaded inner border. The circular legend around the periphery reads GH.OLDENB. F.BIRKENF., identifying the issuing authority as the Grand House of Oldenburg for Birkenfeld.
