| Obverse description | Central field displays the Schaumburg arms — a stylized spread eagle — set within a shield with scalloped or indented sides, rendered in the hammered style typical of late 16th-century German minor coinage. Decorative curved elements or floral flourishes occupy the upper corners of the flan, framing the shield. The design is deeply struck with a bold, if somewhat irregular, outline consistent with hand-struck production. No legend or inscription is present on this face. |

Otto V ruled the diminished repartition of Schaumburg-Pinneberg during a period when the county's silver coinage was already struggling for relevance against larger territorial issues flooding Lower Saxon markets. At 0.32 g, these pfennigs represent the practical floor of silver coinage viability — struck thin enough that die alignment and flan preparation varied considerably across the nine-year emission, which accounts for the range of quality collectors encounter even within the same reference number.
