Obverse description A raised pearl border encircles the entire coin, inside which a circular legend in Latin lettering reads MAINWERKE G.m.b.H. above and OFFENBACH A.M. below, separated by two star stops. An inner raised pearl circle frames the central field, wherein the numeral 1 is prominently displayed, denoting the denomination of one Pfennig. The design is entirely typographic, with no figural elements, consistent with the utilitarian character of German Notgeld emergency coinage.
